Syed Mekael Wasti

Mekael is an MSc student in Computing and a member of Professor Yuan Tian’s RISE Lab at Queen’s University. His research lies at the intersection of Deep Learning and Software Engineering, with a focus on improving code generation from Large Language Models through specialized grammar constraint methods. He completed his BSc in Computer Science at Ontario Tech University, where he was awarded Best Undergraduate Research Thesis and NSERC’s Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA). His undergraduate work led to publications at IntelliSys 2024, ACL 2024/2025, and COLM 2025. Mekael is also a recipient of the Vector Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence, which supports his MSc studies.
