Elbert Chao

Elbert is a Master of Engineering Science (MESc) student at Western University, where he also completed a Bachelor of Engineering Science in Software Engineering in Spring 2025.
He is conducting his research across the Robarts Research Institute and the Amit Chakma Engineering Building under the supervision of Aaron Fenster and Soodeh Nikan, where he is exploring uncertainty-aware deep learning models for medical image segmentation. His work focuses on advancing techniques for analyzing kidney ablations and the synovitis of the CMC1 joint, with the goal of improving the reliability and interpretability of AI-driven tools in medical imaging.
