Faranak Akbarifar is a PhD student in the School of Computing, Queen’s University. She received her BSc in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) and MSc in biomedical engineering from University of Tehran (Tehran, Iran) in 2007 and 2010, respectively. Her master’s thesis was in the field of non-parametric analysis of functional MRI using ICA with the aim of achieving an activation map with maximum SNR. Faranak joined Med-i Lab in September 2019. Her research interests include biomedical data analysis, artificial intelligence in medical imaging and computer-assisted diagnosis. She currently holds a 2022-23 Ontario Graduate Scholarship for her PhD research involving developing an objective assessment system for the impairments associated with neurological disorders such as stroke.
